The “G. Savastano” High Voltage laboratory was realized at the Institute of Electrotechnics. Basing on the idea of prof. G. Maione, who aimed at realizing a laboratory for teaching, researching and serving activities on components and systems for the transmission of the electrical energy, proff. A. Asta, G. Savastano e F. Gasparini hardly worked to realize in 1972 the structure, which is based on the features of the Munich University High Voltage laboratory.
The laboratory is unique in the context of Italian university laboratories. The structure is of about 500 m2, in height 18 m, equipped with acoustic and electromagnetic shields. The laboratory is realized with a ground system network, realizing a ground resistance of less than 0.3 Ω.
